Eg trur eg sa til meg sjølv at eg trengte ikkje lese disse bøkene med ein gong, men nå er det gjort. Eg har faktisk aldri høyrt om disse bøkene før nå, og med min kjære Kindle så var det ein enkel sak å få dei lest. Idag veit eg ikkje om bøkene hadde overlevd det harde bokmarkedet, men for a little light reading er dei perfekt. Skjønne bøker om skolen til Jo March og Professor Bhaer, om guttane som kom dit, og korleis dei endte opp til slutt.

For mange år sidan såg eg filmatiseringa av Little Women hjå syskenbarnet mitt, og falt heilt for historien om dei fire March-jentene. Filmen vart kjøpt for ca 5 år siden, og seinast igår kveld såg eg den. Idag har eg lest ferdig Little Women på Kindle'n, og fant på ein merkelig måte ut at eg har visst lest to bøker! Imagine my surprise! Nokon gonger har boka blitt gitt ut i to deler, og dei to Louisa May Alcott-bøkene eg har i bokhylla har begge blitt lest. Vart på ein måte litt skuffa, men det varte ikkje så lenge heldigvis.

Bøkene handler om dei fire March-jentene som er mellom 16 og 11 år i starten av historien, og veks opp med ein far i krigen i 1860-åra. Dei har ei heilt fantastisk mor som ikkje er redd for eigne meiningar og oppdrar døtrene med like laster av work and pleasure. Samtidig med at jentene veks opp, følgjer me naboen, Theodore Laurence og hans kamp mot bestefarens ønske om at barnebarnet skal gå på college, men som til slutt finner sin plass i livet til March-jentene.

Romanen er ein oppvekst-roman og ein klassiker, men ulikt andre klassikere eg har lest er det bare gode karakterer i Alcotts univers, ihvertfall så langt. Det er ein koseroman, og eg har kost meg med den. Ann Helen har og lest begge bøkene, og eg er enig med ho at det er enkelte partier som ikkje er heilt kva eg ville ha forventa av bøker idag. Moralen er absolutt til stades om å vera god, arbeidsom og diverse anna.

Alt i alt er det herlige bøker, og eg ser fram til Little Men og Jo's Boys - ein anna dag.
